Digital Job Fair Day – DEAL Project: Preparing for the Future in the Digital Era

Posted on August 1, 2025

Jakarta, July 23, 2025 – YCAB Foundation, supported by ChildFund Korea, held Digital Job Fair Day as part of the DEAL Project (Digital Education and Literacy), an initiative aimed at preparing young people to face the challenges of the workforce in today’s digital world. The event served as a bridge between students and alumni of non-IT vocational high schools (SMK) and the business and industrial sectors through a series of activities designed to support career exploration, skills development, and direct recruitment by companies.

Held at Gedung Nyi Ageng Serang in South Jakarta, the event ran from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and was attended by school beneficiaries of the DEAL Project. It opened with a welcoming speech by Imansyah Arraniry, Senior Programs Manager and representative of YCAB Foundation, followed by a digital literacy seminar led by Sularmo Sudharno, CEO of Aksaramaya. The next session featured Irhash Putra, Product Lead at MyEduSolve, who spoke about the soft and hard skills needed in today’s job market. Participants also took part in a self-exploration session by filling out assessment cards provided by the organizing team to help them better understand their strengths and interests.

Beyond the inspiring seminars, the event also included practical sessions such as a CV writing workshop and mock job interviews, both designed to equip participants with essential recruitment skills. Additionally, students had the opportunity to explore company booths and join walk-in interviews aligned with their personal interests and assessment results. They were able to engage directly with HR representatives and apply for job or internship opportunities on-site.

The Digital Job Fair served not only as a place to gather information about job openings but also as a meaningful space for young job seekers to receive direct guidance from professionals and companies in various industries.

One participant, Ivan Aditya, a recent graduate from SMK Al-Makmur, shared his thoughts on the event:

“This is super helpful for people like us because it makes it easier to find job openings at just 19 years old, especially since we just graduated.” said Ivan in an interview. He also mentioned how much he enjoyed meeting and connecting with new friends throughout the event.

Ivan’s experience reflects the excitement of many other participants. Through this event, students didn’t just gain insight into career paths but also had the chance to expand their networks. Many of them met peers from different schools, creating opportunities for collaboration and sharing experiences among fellow young job seekers. This interactive atmosphere offered hands-on experiences that are rarely available in school, while also serving as an entry point into the professional world.

Several companies also took part in supporting students’ career development. Highlighting their enthusiasm, Varrel Vendira, Talent Acquisition & Partnership at Blibli, shared:

“We believe in the huge potential of Indonesia’s youth, and we’re excited to see the enthusiasm from SMK students and alumni today as they explore different job opportunities.”

Adding to this, Irhash Putra, Product Lead of MyEduSolve, who was also one of the seminar speakers said:

“This program really helps students who may not yet know what they need to prepare before entering the job market like how to write a CV and other essential things they should learn beforehand.”

The Digital Job Fair activities provided more than just short-term benefits. They also form part of a broader effort to build a more inclusive and sustainable employment ecosystem for future generations.

Through this initiative, YCAB Foundation, supported by ChildFund Korea, reinforced the importance of cross-sector collaboration between educational institutions and industry in shaping a generation that is competent, adaptable, and ready to face future challenges. The Digital Job Fair stands as a concrete example of how early career education and support play a vital role in preparing a job-ready and competitive youth workforce.
