Educating children about caring for the environment is essential and should begin as early as possible.
In commemoration of Earth Day 2025, MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia organized the MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia Orphan Care initiative.
In collaboration with YCAB Foundation, the program was carried out from April 23–29, 2025, involving 1,000 orphans.
As part of the sustainability initiative under the MR.D.I.Y. Untuk Indonesia program, this activity facilitates eco-friendly initiatives and infrastructure improvements in five orphanages across Greater Jakarta.
These orphanages include Yayasan Swara Peduli Indonesia (Jakarta), Yayasan Yatim Village (Bogor), Yayasan Mizan Amanah (Bekasi), Yayasan Erbe (Jakarta), and Yayasan Bhakti Insan Ahsana (Jakarta).
This sustainability-driven initiative is funded in part by proceeds from MR.DIY Run 2025 ticket sales, aimed at supporting environmentally focused educational programs for orphans as well as infrastructure renovations in the orphanages.
The MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia Orphan Care program consists of three main components: renovation, education, and donation.
Renovation efforts include improvements to orphanage facilities such as classrooms, roofing, drainage systems, and the foundation’s mosque.
In addition, environmental education is delivered through eco-printing workshops, along with donations of school bags, eating utensils, lunch boxes, water bottles, and mini gardening kits.
These items are expected to help reduce single-use plastic while introducing recycling concepts and sustainable lifestyles from an early age.
In her remarks, Frida Marpaung, Chief People Officer of MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia, stated:
“Still within the momentum of commemorating Earth Day 2025, this is an important reminder for all of us that protecting the environment is our shared responsibility—and it can start from small actions around us.”

The program was officially launched at Yayasan Swara Peduli Indonesia, Jakarta, on Wednesday (April 23, 2025).
MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia, together with YCAB Foundation, kicked off the initiative with a hydroponic harvest activity.
This was followed by an eco-printing workshop attended by children from the foundation.
“This is part of our commitment to continuously create sustainable programs that provide long-term benefits and aim to grow together with the people of Indonesia,” Frida added.
Meanwhile, Saneri Shere, Head of Partnership and Communications at YCAB Foundation, stated that the collaboration reflects the shared vision and mission between YCAB Foundation and MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia.
“We believe that environmental sustainability education is essential for children as the future generation. We also greatly appreciate MR.D.I.Y. Indonesia’s initiative and support in making this program possible,” said Saneri.
