JAKARTA – YCAB Foundation organized the Digital Job Fair Day as part of its DEAL (Digital Education and Literacy) initiative, themed Preparing for the Future in the Digital Era.
YCAB Foundation’s Senior Programs Manager, Imansyah Arraniry, stated that the event aims to provide access for vocational high school (SMK) students and alumni to better understand the world of work and explore career opportunities in the digital sector.
With support from ChildFund Korea, the event was designed to facilitate the transition from school to employment and to expand access to opportunities for underserved youth.
This initiative reflects a shared commitment to building pathways toward decent work and economic resilience for the younger generation.
“We want to equip vocational students with relevant digital skills and open direct pathways to employment,” said Imansyah during a recent event in Jakarta.
Although data from Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2023 showed a decline, Indonesia is still considered to have the highest unemployment rate in Southeast Asia, with vocational school graduates contributing the largest share.
This situation highlights a gap between the skills possessed by vocational graduates and current industry needs.
Amid these dynamics, digital transformation continues to accelerate changes in the workforce, presenting significant challenges.
Technologies such as AI are expected to impact around a quarter of all jobs globally, while also creating new opportunities.
Therefore, developing digital skills is essential for vocational graduates to remain competitive in an evolving job market.
The DEAL project was introduced to address these challenges by enhancing digital literacy and skills among vocational students in Jakarta.
To date, DEAL has reached six vocational schools by providing infrastructure support and digital training to 211 students and 60 teachers.
Digital Job Fair Day serves as a platform for career exploration, practical training, and direct recruitment opportunities, involving both businesses and industry players.
A total of 211 students and alumni from six vocational schools participated in the event, alongside 15 companies from various industry sectors.
The program included a series of activities such as inspirational seminars, practical workshops, company booth explorations, and walk-in interview sessions.
“Digital Job Fair Day is a crucial part of this process—building a bridge between schools and industry, while providing real-world experience for students and alumni to explore career opportunities aligned with current trends,” he concluded.
