LightUp Indonesia is a social movement initiated by YCAB Foundation, FAB Group, and Do-It supported by PLN amid during in the Covid-19 pandemic. The large-scale social restrictions imposed by the government to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus have had a tremendous economic impact. Many people are forced to quit their jobs or suffer heavy losses as a result of their business activities being interrupted. To deal with this, PLN has provided free electricity to 450 VA customers and a 50 percent discount for 900 VA customers for April, May, and June 2020. LightUp Indonesia was approximately held for 4 months. And on October 2, the LightUp campaign was officially closed through a virtual afternoon coffee event entitled Together So Bright.
LightUp’s target is 100,000 families. In the initial phase, to coincide with Kartini’s day on April 22, 2020, when LightUp was launched, LightUp will reach a special community of forty thousand women who are ultra-micro entrepreneurs assisted by YCAB Ventures. This community is spread across the Greater Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, and Lampung areas. Through LightUp we want to continue to support them so they can stay productive in this difficult time. The need for electricity is very important to continue their business and for their children, most of whom have to study at home.

The key to success in LightUp movement is the endless supports of so many people. BenihBaik and Dompet Kemanusiaan Media Group are committed to helping raise funds for this LightUp movement. And donations given by each individual on the LightUp.id platform will be duplicated by the Indika Foundation using the matching fund method. Do-It & UniGold are technology partners and the FAB Group, the communications and media strategist for the LightUp movement.
