
YCAB Foundation is committed to giving a better future for children and to provide access to quality education. Therefore, YCAB has shown its dedication to provide access to higher education through YCAB’s Scholarship Program. YCAB Scholarship Program started officially in 2019.
Every year YCAB handpick 20 of the best students to receive the scholarship program. Those who receive this scholarship are past students of Rumah Belajar YCAB, currently enrolled in a university, and can maintain a 3.2 accumulative GPA during school. For the scholarship to go to Global Sevilla School, YCAB pick the 10 best overall academically also non academically and asks them if they’re willing. After that, the interview process begins to get a sense of whether they are truly committed, have perseverance, and grit. So far, 27 students have attended Global Sevilla School as a part of the YCAB Scholarship Program.
The screening process every year starts in July followed by an interview in August and finally in November students are already notified of their application status. The scholarship pays for full tuition fees with a monthly allowance of Rp 500,000 for each student as well as Rp 500,000 per student for book allowance. The scholarship also pays for the thesis and graduation.
One of the recipients of the YCAB Scholarship is Monica R. Vania, who’s in the second year of Indonesia’s prestigious research university, UGM. She’s a Central Java Representative ASEAN Youth Ambassador in 2019. She’s also the most valuable basketball player Honda DBL in 2017. Monica is the daughter of Ibu Illuminata Suwarni of Hilo Banyumanik Semarang and they’ve been a YCAB microfinance client for 4 years.

Meanwhile, as one of the Rumah Belajar alumni in 2018, Imron is very happy because he can study properly like children in general. While carrying out his study at Rumah Belajar, Imron has many friends and it is easy to follow every lesson given. After graduating from Rumah Belajar, Imron now works at the Nagata factory, which produces plastics. Even though the work that he is currently doing is not in accordance with what he has learned at school, he feels that what is taught at Rumah Belajar is very good and the material is also in accordance with schools in general.
Imron’s message to students in Indonesia is, “Never abandon school, aim high because through the knowledge we get, we can develop and influence nations. Don’t let the next generation disappear because we are too busy with our own interests. “
