
As a commemoration of Metro TV’s 20th anniversary, Metro TV held the 2020 People of The Year award night for several inspirational figures who contributed to building Indonesia.
There are five categories given in this event, namely CEO of The Year, Best Government Officer of the Year, and Best Social Media Movement of the Year. Then Lifetime Achievement and People of The Year.
A total of seven members of the jury are chosen to carefully select the winners. Namely the Rector of Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Panut Mulyono; Professor of the University of Indonesia (UI), Eko Prasojo; Chairman of the Indonesian Employers’ Association (APINDO), Hariyadi Sukamdani; Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Sandiaga Uno; Kitabisa.com founder, Alfatih Timur; and the founder of Benihbaik.com, Andy F Noya.
The winner of the 2020 People Of The Year category this year is the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi. Meanwhile, the winner of Lifetime Achievement is the founder of the Maarif Institute, Ahmad Syafii Maarif.
The winner of the Best CEO of The Year category consists of five people. Namely, Director of PT Indofood CBP Sukses Makmur Tbk, Anthoni Salim; PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk, Sunarso; PT Puradelta Lestari; Hongky Jeffrey Hangs; PT Kalbe Farma Tbk, Vidjongtous; and PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk, Anggara Hans Prawira.
Next, the winners for the Best Government Officer of The Year category also consisted of five people. Namely, the Mayor of Semarang, Hendar Prihadi; Mayor of Bogor; Bima Arya Sugiarto; Mayor of Padang, Mahyeldi Ansarullah; The Mayor of Palembang City, Harnojoyo; and the Mayor of Gorontalo, Marten Taha.
Amongst the winner of the Best Social Media Movement category is our CEO/Founder Veronica Colondam, along with Gusdurian, Alisa Wahid; House of Change, Rhenald Kasali; DoctorSHARE, Lie Darmawan; and Hands Above, Badroni Yuzirman.
It is hoped that all the role models of People of The Year winners will be an inspiration to fight for the public interest.
Veronica Colondam, YCAB Foundation CEO/Founder says, “Surely, it’s a huge honor for me to receive the award, but at the same time it’s a reminder to be better and greater than this honor. This is all, first and foremost, God’s grace that has given me the strength to lead YCAB team to uphold the vision of YCAB all these years. Nothing is perfect but it has proven our good intention through the impact we created. We want to strive to do good, meaning with measurable impact and financial sustainability. At this point of my life, I am working on YCAB’s perpetuity, YCAB has to outlive me. This award will help me to get there.”
