Santia and Pur are two of YCAB Rumah Belajar graduates. Both were school drop-outs. Yet even when they have a difficult childhood, this does not dampen their spirit to strive for a better future.
It was year 2005 when Santia had to drop out of school due to the lack of money.
“[It’s] such a pity. I was still young but couldn’t go to school,” Santia said.
“I feel ashamed.”
She then joined Rumah Belajar in 2006, and learned new skills in beauty saloon. She has found good employment ever since.
The same goes for Pur.
Pur had to leave school in 2004 and decided to help his uncle running his small sewing business. But he wanted to go back to school.
Pur then joined Rumah Belajar and able to hone his skills in sewing even more. Now, he has produced bags and other products that help other Rumah Belajar students.
