According to BNPB data, during 2019 most of the natural disasters that occurred in Indonesia were caused by damage to the ecosystem: 1,529 cases of drought, 3,274 cases of forest fires and land, 1,483 cases of the landslide, and 1,276 cases of the flood. The middle to lower class is the one most affected by the occurrence of natural disasters. Therefore, by doing some preventive measures, indirectly we help them to live a better quality of life.
YCAB Foundation is starting a new initiative, YCAB Goes Green in 2020. The goal of YCAB Goes Green is to contribute to environmental preservation and prevention of global warming, create an environmentally friendly work environment, and shape the character and behavior of YCAB employees to be more environmentally friendly.
This movement must be implemented and carried out by the entire YCAB Foundation without any exceptions, whether in the office, at home, school, or in other places that are the work area of YCAB Foundation. YCAB Goes Green aims to develop a new green society by sorting out trash according to a category, as well as reducing water usage, electricity, paper usage.
In Jakarta alone, the average population produces around 2-3 liters of trash in total every day. Since garbage has always been a problem in big cities like Jakarta, with the initiative, YCAB is sorting waste according to category: organic waste, non-residual inorganic waste, residual inorganic waste, and B3 waste. Recycle paper can be broken down to pulp for the basic ingredients of new paper products. Glass can be melted, and reprocess at a high temperature, then reprinted. Metal can be recycled repeatedly to shape it into certain things. Plastic is recycled by melting them and making them basic materials for new products.
We hope this initiative will inspire others in the community to also do the same. Our efforts together can make a big difference in the world. Think green, act green!
