Andini Oktavia

Posted on April 10, 2011

My name is Andini Oktavia and I live in Duri Kepa Asem III, West Jakarta. I am the 3rd child from my 4 siblings. My parents are working very hard to make sure that we get proper education. My father works as a person that cleans up the toll roads and my mom works as a dishwasher. My youngest sibling currently has not gone to school because my parents cannot afford it. However, I am now studying the Rumah Belajar and taking Paket B which includes courses concerning English and Computer.

When I get home from school, I usually help my mom cleaning up the house. My hobby is to listen to music and read a book that really keeps me from being bored. The most important thing for me and my family is overall health and money. My family is in economic difficulty right now and so my parents are working very hard to get over it. I really do want to help my parents out more because when they come home all tired, I feel a little guilty about not making any money. But, I know that I cannot make money so I will stay diligent in my studies so that parents don’t waste any money they use on me.

When I grow up, I have a dream to become a reporter because I think the job is very fun. The responses I get from my friends about my dream are all very positive and they say that they will support me in any way they can. I really take school seriously and I want to continue because just going to school has changed my life and has made me a better person. To me, school is #1.
