Nia Suprapto Effendi

Posted on April 10, 2011

My name is Nia Suprapto Efendi and I was born in Palembang, Sulawesi. I now live in Jl. Masjid No. 21 RT 007/008, Kepa Duri, and West Jakarta. I am the only child in my family, and my mother works as a dish washer.

When my mom works, I do my daily chores at home which entails sweeping the floor, washing dishes, and cleaning up the entire house. I like to read and listen to music. My favorite sport is swimming, basketball and soccer. The most important thing to my family is that I get proper education and that we stay together. The most important thing for me however is that I make sure that my mother is always happy. I get really sad when I see my mother cry. The only thing I can do is to store money and when I do have enough, I pay the bills so that my mother does not have to pay them. When I grow up, I would like to become a doctor so I can help save lives.

Before I enrolled in Rumah Belajar, I dropped out of school for 6 months. The reason I was not able to  continue was because I love my mom and I chose to help her with her daily chores. After some time however, I realized that my mom wants me to get proper education and because of that, I enrolled in Rumah Belajar. Here, I have learned many useful skills like talking in English, and knowing and understanding how to use a computer properly. Now I have a more positive mind and a better personality because I went back to school. One day, I would like to fulfill my dreams so that I can make my mother proud.
