Putri Handayani

Posted on April 10, 2011

My name is Putri Handayani and I come from Jakarta. I live in the Kembangan region in Jl. Terate RT 009/10 No. 26. My father has passed away when I was only 1 year old and so now I only live with 3 other people in my house: my mom, and my 2 older siblings. Since my dad passed away, my mom had to cope with a heavy burden of running the whole family by her. She is now working in a bakery to supply us with enough money to get through in life. My two brothers are also helping out my mom so that she would not be alone.

Every time there’s a school holiday, I would go out and help my mom in her bakery. This is the least I could do for her. I also love to write in my spare time and I really want to be an author of a novel. My favorite sport is badminton because I think it is very exciting. If this does not work, I would like to be a math teacher to share my talents with others. The most important thing when I grow up is to be able to make money so that my mother’s burden will be less.

When I dropped out of school, I was very sad because I could not be educated and it reminds me of my mom’s hard life. After enrolling in Rumah Belajar however, I became more positive minded because now I get the chance to get through school and achieve my dreams. I take school very seriously because it is the sole foundation to becoming successful. I hope to make my mother proud one day.
