YCAB Foundation has just received a donation from HighScope Indonesia. The students of HighScope Indonesia, TB Simatupang Pondok Indah did fundraising and successfully raised more than 16 million rupiah and 10 Evercross cellphones. The money will be used to buy an internet quota for students of Rumah Belajar and will be given to 10 previously selected students.
In these trying times, the donation will help students of Rumah Belajar greatly to continue pursuing their education online, learning from home. Thank you to HighScope Indonesia for the donation to help us accomplish our mission, giving youths hope and a future for better welfare.
Deanty Trihapsari is a grade 1 high schooler at Rumah Belajar. When she entered high school, Deanty immediately studied through home learning. So far, she has remained enthusiastic and has not given up, because she goes to school to make her parents happy. Deanty takes a turn to use the cellphone with her mother, who works as a driver online and often feels discouraged because it hinders the mother’s work. She once said that she wanted to earn money, but Deanty’s parents asked her to strictly focus on her schooling.
“I am very grateful to receive this donation. The cellphone will be used to study, and seek broader knowledge, so I don’t have to bother my parents,” said Deanty happily.
Meanwhile, Abdi Negara, is a junior high first-grader at Rumah Belajar found online learning was difficult because he had to alternate cellphones and was constantly having signal difficulties. Besides that, the study schedule with his brother and sister also clashed. Finally, Abdi’s mother arranged for the use of the cellphone as well. Despite having a quota, the signal was quite difficult, so Abdi’s mother tried to find a location with a good signal. Abdi was very happy when he got a new cellphone.
“Thank you very much HighScope, we can not give anything back, we will study well with this cellphone” said Abdi.
