
YCAB Foundation together with HSBC continue the Rumah Belajar Batik program, which provides technical training for batik and provides business assistance for Batch 2. The training scheme at the Batch 2 Batik Learning House is divided into 2 terms, namely Batch 2A and Batch 2B so that it maintains the physical distancing protocol to avoid the risk of transmission of the COVID-19 virus. After participating in a technical batik training for 1 (one) month, apart from receiving assistance and workshops, students are also asked to produce hand-drawn and stamped batik cloth with natural coloring to compete in the Best Group Batch 2 competition.
The judging process is held on Tuesday – Wednesday, 13 – October 14, 2020 on the 2nd floor of the YCAB Batik Learning House Semarang. There were 56 students participated in the competition. The assessment from the jury covers aspects including: business ideas and implementation, how to market products both offline and online and presentations during the judging process. Based on the assessment from the jury, the Dahlia group from Batch 2B got the highest score with a total score of 23.6 so that the Dahlia group became the winner in the Best Batch 2 Group competition and were entitled to a prize of IDR 10,000,000.00 (ten million rupiah). The work of the Dahlia group was Wayang motif, the character was Werkudara. The jury was very impressed with all the work, the coloring process is nice, even, and includes several coloring techniques.

With the prizes given, YCAB hopes that the Dahlia group will have the determination and desire to continue producing batik products and be active in marketing their products so that they can participate in the preservation of our nation’s cultural heritage through batik. In addition, YCAB also hopes that other groups will continue to have the spirit to become batik entrepreneurs.
