Special Agent is a volunteering program organized by Do Something Indonesia. The Special Agent itself aims to find young people who want to become agents of change for the community or their environment. For a year, they could represent their city, and help directly with the campaigns of Do Something Indonesia. The SA program has been running since 2015. However, it stopped for a moment in 2018-2019 and finally started again in 2020.
This opportunity is open to those aged 16-24 years who live in all regions of Indonesia. An SA also must have a passion in the world of social activities, have a desire to challenge himself, have good critical and analytical thinking, have high initiative and are certainly active in organizational activities. Design, photo, video, writing and creative skills will be an added value.
The initial selection process is sending CVs first, from there we filter CVs that will pass the first stage for the process of making an “impact sheet” – SA candidates are asked to create a campaign according to the problems they see around them, this impact sheet contains problems, solutions and call-to-action. Furthermore, if their Impact Sheet passes, they will enter the interview stage. The last is the interview stage, which is the last stage of the Special Agent selection process. From Batch 1-4, 53 Special Agents have been registered.
In their busy days, Special Agents are creating social media content and implementing social campaigns and Do Something Indonesia, including running social campaigns on their respective campuses. They become a representative / ambassador for DSI at their respective campuses, so when there are media or individuals who want to interview or ask questions about DSI, they will become the extension of the central DSI. Special agents also share ideas and create impactful campaigns based on local issues from their campus area, which will be posted on the DSI platform.

The program in this batch year includes a campaign with the theme of digital literacy, mental health, physical health, environment and social issues. Special Agents will receive webinars / soft skills training every month and how they can run an impactful campaign during their 1 year term of service. In addition, if there are no significant obstacles, all Special Agent members will be gathered in 2021 for a national gathering / Focused Group Discussion which will be covered with a series of events and sharing in it.
A testimony from Alif Quita, Special Agent Batch 1, Jakarta: “Being a special agent is fun, so I have a reason to invite other young people to do something together for a better future.” While Pandu Wicaksono, Special Agent Batch 1, Malang says, “I am happy and proud to be able to do something for society because of Do Something Indonesia.”
