Groupon Indonesia, part of the largest daily deals website in the world, launched a “Groupon Cares” program to help school drop outs kids by collaborating with Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB). Groupon Indonesia which is lead by Jason Lamuda and Ferry Tenka hopes to be able to help school drop outs to continue their education. This initiative was born out of the concerns of the fact that only 23% of junior high school graduates in Indonesia are able to continue to senior high school.
The program will be run in the month of November 2011, in which Groupon Indonesia’s customers and merchants can support Indonesian education through their simple participation in the Groupon Cares program. When a customer purchase discount voucher at Groupon Indonesia, Rp 1,000 will be donated to YCAB. Further, at the end of November, all donations collected will be multiplied by Groupon Indonesia.
Both Groupon Indonesia and YCAB believe that everyone has a chance to help others and contribute to the development of Indonesian youth and this program provides opportunities for the customers and merchant to do charity in a fun and easy way.
