International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, was a reminder that equality remains a global issue. Women are often viewed as less capable that their rights are frequently taken away, or their achievements are insignificantly acknowledged. This is what motivated Meta, through SheMeansBusiness, and YCAB Foundation, in creating the Karya Perempuan program. Launched in August last year, this training aims to empower women business owners to become strong entrepreneurs and #BreakTheBias of women in the business sphere.
With the aim of optimizing business growth, Meta encourages program participants to utilize the Catalog feature on WhatsApp Business. Focusing on showcasing culinary, craft, and fashion products, Karya Perempuan Catalog will be launched on March 31, 2022, along with a kick-off webinar titled “Ways to Generate Income from Home”.
A total of 50 women business owners were selected to market their products through the Karya Perempuan’s Catalog published on Whatsapp Business (+62 811-1900-4999). After receiving training and assistance through the Karya Perempuan program, participants can benefit greatly from the advanced features of the Whatsapp Business Catalog. With this feature, participants can showcase their product photos, detailed information, prices, and easily share all products in their catalog in the form of links.
“I feel greatly helped by the training. Prior to this program, I thought selling online was just merely posting photos of my product. By participating in this training, I was taught how to effectively post my photos, which are now displayed in the Karya Perempuan Catalog. ” -Erna @ayampenyetbandung_
“Insya Allah, Karya Perempuan’s Catalog can be used for market development and increasing turnover to generate profit, which we will use to empower those around us through community training. Hopefully, this will make it easier for home sellers to connect with buyers and expand their market.” -Anna @pkbmcemerlang.wonosobo
“I usually just take photos and upload them, but after participating in the training, I finally understand how to sell. Hopefully, through the Karya Perempuan Catalog, it will be easier for me to sell products to young people. Knitted products are widely assumed to be made only for the elderly, though our designs are up-to-date with the current trends.” -Lilik @chikanin.official
Karya Perempuan program has had an impact on 590 women from 50 cities and districts in 15 provinces in Indonesia. This program aims to empower Indonesian womenpreneurs in building digital marketing and financial literacy skills so that their businesses can survive and continue to grow in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to this program’s survey, 79.2% of participants experienced an increase in knowledge and 92% of participants experienced an increase in their ability and confidence to manage risks and uncertainties in doing their business.
The participants received digital marketing training by optimizing Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp Business features. In addition to that, participants were also armed with financial literacy skills through the “Ibu Harta” WhatsApp Chatbot, an online financial management learning innovation conducted by YCAB Foundation. Moreover, Meta through SheMeansBusiness together with YCAB Foundation wants to continue growing the Karya Perempuan program as a tangible form of support for Indonesian women.
