Jakarta, July 7th 2015 – To support the education of the children in Indonesia, Nike Indonesia and Converse gave a donation of 932 pairs of shoes. The aid was given directly to YCAB Foundation (Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa) at YCAB’s Duri Kepa Learning Centre. The donations was given by Putri Alam, Government Public Affairs Manager for Nike Indonesia and Gino Maudhi, Manufacturing Team Leader, of Converse, as representatives of Nike Indonesia and Converse. The donation was gratefully accepted by Oky Setiady, Director of House of Learning and Development (HoLD) – YCAB Foundation.
“The donation of shoes from Nike Indonesia and Converse for the children’s Learning Centre is a form of support to our children so they can be more comfortable in school. We greatly appreciate Nike Indonesia and Converse in its efforts to share. We believe support for the children in Indonesia can be distributed in many forms, including the donation of these shoes, “said Muhammad Farhan, Secretary General YCAB Foundation.
The donation was distributed to underprivileged children and school dropouts who go to one of YCAB Foundation’s Learning Centres which is located in Jakarta. YCAB Foundation has impacted the lives of nearly 2.7 million young people so far, including through the Learning Centre’s where students can join the educational program at an affordable IDR 10,000 per month. At the Learning Centre’s, students can follow at least two courses, namely IT and / or English with a vocational program or ‘kejar paket’ –an education program package that is the equal of the Indonesian Government’s curriculum which is intended for those who drop out of school to complete their education.
