- PLTU Cirebon and YCAB Foundation create Technology and Innovative program
- Technology and Innovative program consist of 2 programs namely Mobil Belajar (provision of computers inside a car for students to learn technology) and Motivation to Innovate story telling activity
Cirebon, 31 August 2016 – According to Kemekominfo, In 2015 , there are 80.1% rural areas and 58.1% urban areas that have no access to computer. In Indonesia, there are only 29.8% households that have access to computer. In addition, Indonesia ranked #97 out of 141 countries in Global Innovation Index (GII) 2015. The ranking was based on Skor PISA indicator by averaging the math, reading, and science score of Indonesian students.
Some of the facts above proved that computer technology knowledge in Indonesia is still unequal. Furthermore, the innovation level of Indonesian people is extremely low compared to other countries. This situation is pretty concerning remembering that soft skill is essential especially for youth who will face the modern technology era. Therefore, PLTU Cirebon and YCAB Foundation (Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa) created a program called “Technology and Innovation”.

This program reaches youths in Cirebon aged 9-12 years old. The Technology and Innovation program consist of 2 activities namely Mobil Belajar PLTU Cirebon and Motivation to Innovate Story Telling based on a book written by Heru Dewanto entitled “Inovasi”. The format and the content of the book were designed to correspond with the age of the target readers, which contain illustration that tells a story. This book format is a form of innovation in itself for the book publishing world in Indonesia.
“We use mobil belajar as it is effectively proven to reach youths from various areas that have limited access. Story telling is an effective method to introduce innovation to elementary school children” said M. Farhan General Secretary of YCAB Foundation.
