Commemorating a yearful notable collaborative program named  “Therapy in Creativity”: Rumah Belajar Batik Samekto Karti, YCAB Foundation, and PT DOW Indonesia held a virtual closing event on July 23, 2022. Starting in late 2021, this collaborative program has created an impactful and sustainable change in the local community by providing the mentally disabled a chance to thrive.

During the closing event, a batik competition was held amongst the program participants to showcase their batik creations and as a volunteering session, PT DOW Indonesia staff voted for their favorite design.

As a result,  Turah with her “Kawung Wijaya Kusuma” batik design placed 1st. A pompous flowery pattern painted in shades of purple and lilac incising a tale of prosperity, well-being, justice, and love on every ink stroke in her design.

In addition to that, an honorable mention was given to a favorite design from PT DOW Indonesia’s staff vote, made by Dwi Yuli Yanti. A dash of fresh and colorful shrubs around Rumah Belajar Batik became her inspiration in creating this piece named “Bunga Belukarku”.

20 program participants of Rumah Belajar Batik Samekto Karti were released from the rehabilitation center equipped with new skills, better mental stability, self-esteem, and confidence.
