Sandiaga S. Uno & Friends in “Running for Sharing” – New York Marathon

A group of prominent Indonesians were practice running on October 9, 2011 along Senayan – Monas area in Jakarta as the preparation for their participation in New York Marathon November 6, 2011 – one of the world’s great road races drawing more than 100,000 applicants annually. There were more than 150 people including YCAB and BUB’s team and families, public figure, and media joined the running practice.

The 22 Indonesian will run at the New York Marathon to raise funds to help creating positive impacts on the lives of others through Berlari Untuk Berbagi (Running for Share) program. The program was initiated by Sandiaga S. Uno, a successful investor and CEO of Saratoga Capital, who started running for Indonesian charities in 2009. He has found a unique way to link his passion for running with his good-will to make a positive difference.

Sandiaga S. Uno has run in three marathons since 2009 and raised over Rp 2 billion (US$224,000) to date through donations, in which sponsors pledge to donate money for every kilometer he runs with Sandiaga give matching funds to the total donations with his own money. This year, Berlari Untuk Berbagi will raised Rp 40 million (US$4,700) per K and will be doubling by Sandiaga S. Uno.

YCAB is one of the foundations who will get the donations raised, and the donations will be used for microfinance program to empower 2,100 underprivileged women in one cluster as appointed by BUB.  Both BUB and YCAB expects to raise money up to Rp 4 Bio (US$470,000) to be used as a perpetual social investment through microfinance program which linked entrepreneurship and education for underprivileged community.

The 22 Indonesian runners are: Anindya N. Bakrie, Agung Sucahyo, Arlan Perkasa Lukman, Billy Perkasa Kadar, Bambang Adhi Widjaja, Benny Hadisurjo, Diono Nurjadin, Firdani Saugi, Fazil Alfitri, Hermawan Kartajaya, Harlin Rahardjo, Jero Wacik, Martin Batara Simorangkir, Nina Kurniasari, Roestiandi Tsamanov, Sandiaga S. Uno, Setiawan Wicaksono, Teguh Anantawikrama, Taufik Udasmara, Wantya Najadi Sapardan, and Westana Hermawan Wiraatmaja.
