SC Johnson Collaborates with YCAB Foundation – Opening the World to Underpriviledged Youth in Cibinong through Mobil Belajar SC Johnson

Posted on December 23, 2013

Nowadays, computer knowledge is one of the most important skills for youths hoping to enter the increasingly demanding job market. YCAB Foundation and SC Johnson are collaborating to enrich the technical skills of underpriviledged youths in Cibinong and its surrounding area. This afternoon the Mobil Belajar SC Johnson is officially launched at SC Johnson’s office. Comprising 10 laptops, the SC Johnson Mobil Belajar can help educate 400 students a year for digital inclusion.

At the opening, Director of Supply & Logistic Business Liaison SC Johnson, Marlina Darmadi, welcomes all the guests attending the event and gives thanks that finally the Mobil Belajar has been launched.

The joint program involves not only Mobil Belajar, but also a scholarship to 30 students provided by SC Johnson at Rumah Belajar on September 2013, and there are future plans to provide a dengue prevention program for the students, too.

This program couldn’t be possible without participation and support from the government. Founder/CEO YCAB Foundation, Veronica Colondam, said that this tri-sector collaboration – between the private sector, government, and an NGO – worked very well. YCAB Foundation also invited a local partner, Yayasan Tambayun, to join this program. The collaboration should empower each party and share value to all involved.

To celebrate the launch, President Director SC Johnson, Frank F. Guerra, and Founder/CEO YCAB Foundation, Veronica Colondam, broke a kendi (the traditional pottery from Indonesia) to symbolize togetherness, strength to face the challenge, and innovation.
Furthermore, Hesti, a 14 year-old Paket A (elementary school) school girl, shared her gratitude with the audience about the Mobil Belajar SC Johnson program. Previously forced to drop out of school and work on the street for two years, she now has a strong will to learn and wants to become a policewoman in the future.
