Seniors without the booster shot run a higher risk of infection and hospitalization from the omicron variant.

“When there’s a will, there’s a way” –  i-SERVE Vaccine was blessed by the arrival of two senior citizens who chose three-wheeled urban transport (bajaj) to get their booster shot on March 1st, 2022 at Klinik Cinta Anak Bangsa, Kebon Jeruk. Namely, Iemiarti Tandiono and Danu Pranata Mulia, an elderly couple who has been married for 40 years, were determined to complete their Covid-19 (booster)  despite the given circumstances. This initiative is highly appreciated and renowned by the public and the government.

“My husband really wanted to get a booster vaccine even though he had just recovered from a stroke and still undergoing physiotherapy treatment. Hence why we hoped to get vaccinated in a place that is easily accessible for my husband who is now using a wheelchair. That’s why I searched online and found YCAB Foundation,” mentioned Iemiarti at the “Rosi Spesial” Program, Kompas TV, Thursday (3/3/2022).

The perseverance and spirit of this elderly couple gathered the attention of the Minister of Health and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The live talk show entitled “Dua Tahun Covid, tren steroids for sale steroids-usa.net Saatnya Kita Bangkit” meaning ‘After 2 years of Covid, it’s time to rise’, was led by Rosiana Silalahi at Kompas TV and roundup how Covid-19 had impacted Indonesia and how we have learned, transformed, and bounce back from the pandemic. “More than 270 million Indonesian were targeted for the vaccination and we’re able to hit all the targets by the government”, added Retno Marsudi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“We would like to acknowledge the spirit that this couple embodies. I hope the motivation that Opa (Danu) has shown us, inspires us all to get vaccinated,” mentioned Budi Gunadi Sadikin, the Minister of Health. According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) by the end of 2021, there were around 29.3 million elderly people in Indonesia. However, according to data from the Ministry of Health as of February 13, 2022, the elderly vaccination coverage had only reached 73.89% for the first dose and 50.38% for the second dose.

“By getting ourselves vaccinated, we’re protecting ourselves and others around us. Yes, there might be side effects but us, elders, should not be afraid to get vaccinated,” added Iemiarti. Initiated in March 2021,  i-SERVE Vaccine Jakarta and West Java have successfully administered vaccination to more than 92,000 vaccine recipients including the marginalized community, namely the disabled and the elderly. i-SERVE Vaccine is open until March 31st, 2022, please visit https://www.ycabfoundation.org for further information.
