Together with DKI Jakarta government (Pemprov DKI), YCAB Foundation held a Social Economic Profiling program at Rusun Marunda on Saturday, 20 April 2013.
In the aftermath of the big flood at Jakarta in January, Vice Governor Basuki Tjahja “Ahok” Purnama gives a solution by providing relocation services for people living in Pluit, North Jakarta area, who have been severely disadvantaged by the flood. This government’s program relocates about 800 families to Rusun Marunda, which has been built for low socio-economic people.
YCAB Foundation with Pemprov DKI Jakarta work together to profile the impact of what this relocation has done to the social economy status of the people in Social Economy Profiling program. This volunteering program was held at Rusun Marunda (Jl. Marunda, kelurahan Cilincing, Jakarta Utara). In this program, 200 volunteers participated in interviewing the flood victims and afterwards data analysis will be conducted by YCAB research team.

Volunteering program Project Manager Yunanto Dwi Saputra said one of the reasons why Pemprov DKI would like to do this profiling program is to see the impact of the relocation program. In doing this, YCAB Foundation hopes to analyze the need of the people in such if needed, we can support them in terms of education by building Rumah Belajar learning center.
The program was followed by 200 volunteers aged 18 and above, both from individually and from corporations who have collaborated with YCAB Foundation, such as Coca Cola, PwC, Erafone, Bank ANZ, GE, IFC, Ministry of Finance, Bank Danamon, and Bank BRI. Data from more than 600 families were gathered.
Apart from that, this program also raised the volunteers’ awareness about people who come from underprivileged background. Project Manager Yunanto Dwi Saputra says, “We would like to expose our new volunteers to people who, such it seems, are less fortunate than them. They may have known YCAB from outside but they have not known our beneficiaries. We want to try to invite the volunteers to become a part of us in raising awareness about how we try to make a difference in people’s lives.”
