Jakarta, 18 August 2015 – In celebration of Indonesia’s 70th Independence Day, YCAB Foundation has joined an anti-drugs campaign led by the British rock band, Arkarna. After visiting several rehabilitation centers in Indonesia, the two band members, Ollie Jacobs and Matt Hart, felt sympathetic toward the struggling drug addicts. They decided to take action to fight against drugs, starting with a hash tag campaign #LoveIndonesiaHateDrugs.
Since Arkarna is known by Indonesians through their cover of “Kebyar-Kebyar” by Alm. Gombloh, Warner Music Indonesia has decided to release this single on 14 August 2015, to commemorate Indonesia’s 70th Independence Day on 17 August 2015. It is interesting to see them have so much passion for the song, as they are one of the first foreign artists to have such high nationalistic spirits for Indonesia.

The single “Kebyar-Kebyar” is also a part of Arkarna’s anti-drugs campaign with a music video that is directed by Dodid Wijanarko, produced by Ollie, and edited by Matt. Along with BNN (Badan Narkotika Nasional) and Warner Music Indonesia, YCAB has helped Arkarna incorporate hundreds of students in the music video, hence asking more youths to join the campaign #LoveIndonesiaHateDrugs. Uploaded on YouTube, the video has reached over 30,000 views in two days.
Music has its own power and it has to be used to promote positive matters. With their single “Kebyar-Kebyar,” Arkarna hopes to inspire and educate Indonesia’s young generation to work together and fight against drugs.
