The Youth Digital Acceleration Program is a scholarship initiative by YCAB aimed at cultivating digital talents prepared to meet industry demands, particularly in the coding domain. This program stands to YCAB’s commitment to facilitating education for young individuals while also striving to reduce youth unemployment rates in Indonesia. It extends its reach to youths across Indonesia, offering foundational coding training and career preparation workshops encompassing the comprehensive requirements for 21st-century job readiness.
The reason why we are undertaking this initiative is multifaceted. First and foremost, the current unemployment rates in Indonesia underscore the urgent need for skill development programs that empower young individuals to secure meaningful employment opportunities. Additionally, there is a high demand for digital talents in various sectors, further highlighting the necessity of fostering a proficient workforce in the IT industry. However, despite this demand, digital education remains inaccessible for a significant portion of low to middle-class youth due to various barriers.
By providing accessible and quality digital education through the Youth Digital Acceleration Program, we aim to bridge this gap and offer a pathway for aspiring youth from all socio-economic backgrounds to enter the IT field. We believe that unlocking the potential of these young individuals will not only contribute to the growth of the digital economy but also uplift communities and families as these talented youths begin to earn more lucrative opportunities within the IT sector. Through this initiative, we envision a future where all Indonesian youth have equal access to the transformative power of digital education, leading to a more prosperous and inclusive society.
” I believe that investing in accessible education and skill development is not just a responsibility, but a pathway to unlocking the country’s boundless potential. The Youth Digital Acceleration Program stands as a testament to our commitment to empowering Indonesian youth from all walks of life, ensuring they can contribute meaningfully to the digital landscape and drive the nation’s progress forward.” – Chris Loh, a Singaporean businessman and an advocate for digital talents in Indonesia.
The program was buzzed with 219 initial participants, mostly college students actively seeking employment. Then, 79 individuals successfully progressed to the Career Preparation stage based on their performance in the Basic Coding phase. This stage includes logic tests, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Web Development.
The Career Preparation phase serves as value-added mentorship from YCAB aimed at shaping resilient and self-assured young individuals. It provides additional insights from industry practitioners, enhancing participants’ soft skills and technical competencies for successful job applications. Providing accessibility for all participants across 21 provinces, this phase had over six online sessions and one offline meeting for participants who can attend in person due to their availability and location.
Throughout those stages, the 12 best-performing participants have earned the opportunity to undergo intensive and in-depth training through the Job Ready Coding Bootcamp. After successfully completing the selection process, these participants will continue their learning journey, facilitating their pathway to employment.
