The heart of Indonesia, Jakarta, is now facing a concerning new wave of COVID-19 that has led oxygen prices to jump and the Red Cross to warn of a looming catastrophe. It is a reminder of how frequently countries will lurch between relative stability and a health system in danger of collapse, particularly as more aggressive variants circulate and a large share of new infections occurring in its populous capital.
A few months passed after the national mass COVID-19 vaccination in Indonesia was declared, authorities finally opened up inoculations to anyone aged over 18 in Jakarta to contain increased transmission in the capital. YCAB Foundation with its mission to serve the community, partake the initiative with the 3rd i-SERVE vaccine program, to speed up the rate of vaccination in Jakarta.
YCAB Foundation, together with Kebon Jeruk Public Health Center, and Terra Clinic supported by Bali United, the Ministry of Health, the DKI Jakarta Health Service, the Government of DKI Jakarta, held another COVID-19 vaccination for the public, continuing the success of its predecessor event. Vaccination participants are open to residents who have Jakarta-issued e-KTP (Indonesian ID Card) and are 18 years old or older or are domiciled or work in the Jakarta area to receive phase 1 vaccine using the Oxford – AstraZeneca vaccine.
“Our commitment is to help accelerate the national vaccination program so that public health is more protected during this pandemic. This time, our third vaccination program is aimed at the general public. We are very grateful for the government’s trust, in this case, the Ministry of Health through the DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office and the Kebon Jeruk Public Health Center who always support us. We emphasize the practice of strict health protocols during the vaccination process for the safety and health of all,” said Veronica Colondam, CEO of YCAB Foundation.
The 3rd drive-thru vaccination event was held on the same location on June 24 – 26 and June 28 – 30, 2021 with operating hours at 09.00 – 15.00 and the daily quota for vaccine recipients was up to 500 people. 60 volunteers helped the vaccination site and served 3.939 people through the entire event.
YCAB Foundation invites the entire community to immediately follow the COVID-19 vaccination to reduce the risk of transmission. In addition to that, vaccines are useful for making one’s immune system acknowledge the threat and quickly fight viruses that cause infections. By participating in a vaccination program, participants will also help restore the social and economic conditions of countries affected by the pandemic.
