YCAB x Grab: Embed Entrepreneurship Spirit for Youth Through GrabSchool

Posted on April 19, 2017

YCAB has a mission to help youth to become self-reliant through our youth development programs. For that reason, YCAB collaborates with Grab to improve the entrepreneurial spirit of Grab driver’s children. This program’s title is GrabSchool.

GrabSchool is a series of one-day training programs. There were 100 Grab driver’s children from 12-18 years’ old who joined the GrabSchool program in Bandung. This program entitled “Grab Your Chance: Plan Your Business, Plan Your Life”. Aims to introduce and increase entrepreneurship early on and boost the children’s confidence, showing them that they can be a successful entrepreneur in the future.

This program is designed to show the benefits and struggles of choosing a life as   an entrepreneur and how to build a business from scratch. The participants were divided into 10 groups and they were asked to make a restaurant, complete with menu and product prices. Then they had to present their restaurant in front of audiences. During this simulation, the participants learned how to make a plan, create a business, and sell their products.

GrabSchool was launched in 2015, and programs are held 3 (three) times per year. Later this year, there will be a second training program about financial responsibility and how it relates with entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, the third program will focus on business management for children. Through these programs, we hope we can give opportunities for youth to boost their confidence levels and acquire the knowledge and technical skills on how to build a business.
