YCAB Foundation Spreads the Spirit of Caring through Seed Distribution to 12 Schools in Jakarta

Jakarta, 28 October 2011 – Today Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB Foundation) held a sporting event − cycling for 12 kilometers in West Jakarta. YCAB Foundation saw the participation of its employees and members of management. Aside from cycling, YCAB Foundation also distributed seeds and certificates as tokens of appreciation to 12 schools that were actively involved as YCAB Foundation’s partners for its campaign program.

The activities which took place during the national commemoration of the Youth Pledge Day aimed to reignite the spirit of the Youth Pledge among Indonesian youth. In accordance with the theme of the 83th Anniversary of the Youth Pledge this year, YCAB Foundation would like to recapture the youth’s spirit for unity, especially the spirit to care about others, including taking care of the environment.

The string of activities were a part of the Do Something Indonesia program, a platform that provides a medium for young people and good causes that have tie-ins with a number of social issues − under Healthy Lifestyle Promotion (HeLP) Division of YCAB Foundation. “The Do Something Indonesia program targets the youth to encourage them to make simple contributions to help address social issues. Through these activities, YCAB Foundation seeks to encourage people, especially youths, to live a healthy and green lifestyle,” said Do Something Indonesia Program Manager Gilbert Claymondt Simpson.

Meanwhile, YCAB Foundation Secretary General dr. Iskandar Irwan Hukom stated that the activities were aligned with YCAB’s objectives to develop Indonesian youth’s character. YCAB Foundation with its three-pillar programs, i.e. health, education, and entrepreneurship, has a number of holistic programs to enabling Indonesian youth to be independent. “For 12 years, YCAB Foundation has been consistent in its commitment to contribute to Indonesian youth through its programs. We hope that these activities could encourage youths to have strong character; not only to encourage them to live a healthy lifestyle, but also to care about their surroundings as well as the environment,” he concluded.
