LEVI’S ® Launched Recycle Jeans Campaign This Year

Posted on May 20, 2014

Levi’s ® held social campaigns to help communities in need

Jakarta, May 20, 2014 – Levi’s ® held their annual social activity namely the Recycle Jeans campaign that started on May 20, 2014 to June 22, 2014. Levi’s® Recycle Jeans Campaign invited consumers to donate old jeans to Levi’s® counters which would then be channelled to NGOs in Indonesia. This year Levi’s® worked together with ACT (Aksi Cepat Tanggap) and Rumah Jahit at Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa to assist in the distribution to communities in need.

Levi’s® had been organizing Recycle Jeans campaign in Indonesia from 2009 and had collected more than 60,000 pairs of jeans that had been given to local NGOs namely KPJ (Kelompok Penyanyi Jalanan), Terra, PKPU Lembaga Kemanusiaan Nasional, ACT (Aksi Cepat Tanggap), and Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa (YCAB Foundation). This year Levi’s® was hoping to provide 25,000 pairs of jeans for needy communities.

“Levi’s® believes that we can make a difference by delivering social issues and encourage the public to not only resolve personal problems but also problems in the community around them. This is the reason why we come up with the campaign so that consumers can give back and help communities in need,” says Sumesh Wadhwa, the Commercial Director of PT Levi Strauss Indonesia.

As a token of appreciation Levi’s® would provide vouchers for consumers who donated their jeans for the amount of Rp 250,000 for Levi’s® jeans and Rp 200,000 for non-Levi’s jeans. Customers could donate their jeans at Original Levi’s® stores all round Indonesia and at Levi’s® counters located in Centro, Debenhams, Seibu, Star, Sogo (except Bali) and Matahari Department Store (except Batam). Jeans that were donated must be in good condition and fit for use.
