Hand over of Rp 225 millions Ministry of Social Assistance Funds

A number of ministers of Kabinet Indonesia Bersatu II visited Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa and had a breaking of the fast together with a number of pre-school children at the Rumah Belajar Yayasan Cinta Anak Bangsa on Friday (5/8). This event was attended by Coordinating Minister for People Welfare Agung Laksono, Minister of Women Empowerment and Child Protection Linda Amalia Sari Gumelar, and the Minister of Social Affair H. Salim Segaf Al Jufri. Besides sharing the breaking of the fast, they also gave the Children Welfare Program (PKSA) funds a total of Rp 225,000,000 for the Rumah Belajar YCAB students.
Beside of the ministers, a broad array of echelon I and II the Coordinating Ministry of People’s Welfare (Kemensos), Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, and Ministry of Social Affair were also present at the celebration as starting of Safari Ramadhan that has become an annual event of Kemenkokesra and YCAB was selected as the recommended foundation from Kemensos for this event today.
This event which was supported by Binus University began with the sharing and motivation session from Centre of Social Guidance (Puspensos). It was also enlivened by some performances from students of Rumah Belajar YCAB. Some of the guests included the Chairman of the Board Advisors YCAB Togar Sianipar, CEO of Binus University Bernard Gunawan, and a number of corporations who are YCAB’s partners including Multistrada, Chevron, Bank Mandiri, Unilever, CIMB Niaga, and ANZ, as well as media.
Kemensos provided funding Child Welfare Program (PKSA) a total of Rp 225,000,000 for the saving of the students’ of Rumah Belajar from total budget of Rp 5.6 billion. YCAB and Kemensos have been working together since 2010 in the handling of street children. It is estimated that there are 8,000 street children in Jakarta. Of the 1,140 children targeted from 2010, the PKSA Kemensos has succeeded in reducing the activity of street children on the streets by about 28% and keeping them off the streets by 72%.
In his speech, Agung Laksono, Minister of People’s Welfare, stated that there are currently 12.49% or about 30 millions of Indonesia’s population who are poor and that includes a number of children who are forced to live and fight on the street. He also considered that the three pillars of YCAB programs for welfare, education, and health are the right programs to help increase the number of Indonesia’s human development index.
Meanwhile, the CEO and founder of YCAB Foundation, Veronica Colondam stated that YCAB is very honored to be selected as the foundation that is visited by a number of cabinet Indonesia Bersatu II. “As the foundation is engaged in the development of teenagers and independence, we hope that YCAB’s programs also contribute in helping Kemenkokesra achieve Indonesia’s vision of a prosperous, advanced, independent, and dignified youth. A number of the nation’s problems are not only the government’s homework, but also us – civil society. Therefore, we hope this event will mark and reinforce the tri-sector collaboration between Government, private sector, and foundations, to address the nation’s problems. ”
She added that as an organization that focuses on the areas of youth development with the three pillars of the program (health, education, and welfare), YCAB has the ultimate goal of improving the Human Development Index (HDI) of Indonesia.
