YCAB Ventures manages the mission-driven microfinance arm of YCAB Foundation. Targeting marginalized ultra-micro women entrepreneurs in urban areas, this financial inclusion program enables continued education for the children of these women entrepreneurs. The multi-faceted program empowers low-income women with access to capital and financial opportunities whilst enabling the education of their next generation as a means to break generational poverty.
This mission-driven microfinance provides access to capital conditional upon the education of their children. The supported education includes scholarships, tuition subsidies, or participation in one of YCAB’s education programs, both offline and online such as digital inclusion and coding.
We use the surplus of this microfinance operation to subsidize the cost of education. By expanding our mission-driven microfinance program, YCAB Ventures and YCAB Foundation are integrated as one united front to further improve opportunities for the mothers and youth of low-income families as well as the surrounding communities around our operation.
Goals:
- To provide economic opportunities to low-income mothers as an incentive to support their school-aged children to stay in school.
- To support YCAB’s mission by making their children’s education as the precondition to loan and by giving back some of the surplus generated from this activity to support YCAB education program.
