Dhea Pratiwi is an alumnus of Rumah Cantik, a vocational training program for students of Rumah Belajar YCAB. She started studying in Rumah Cantik in 2016-2017. She also has been worked at some hair and beauty salon like Toni and Guy, Sassy Beauty and currently at Krone Hair Design & Beauty Bar.
In the past, Dhea dropped out of school and she earned money by becoming a paid audience in music shows. She struggled to get to school because she didn’t earn enough money to go. Finally, she joined Rumah Belajar YCAB and decided to study there because the tuition is very affordable. She graduated in 2017.
She chose Rumah Cantik as a place to study because she is passionate about beauty and hair, and she also thinks that she is outstanding in the service sector. “The experience while studying at Rumah Cantik was very fun, because I gained skills and insights in beauty and hair,” Dhea says.
“I got the knowledge of hairdressing, haircutting, makeup, hair texture, such as straightening & curling, and hair coloring from theory to direct practice to people. As for the impressions, I feel I am very proud to be able to study at this Rumah Cantik,” she continues.
On October 27, 2020 she won first prize in a competition “Cutting Long Hair & Coloring”, in a Beauty For Better Life (BFBL) from L’oreal. She was interested in competing because she wanted to prove that she can be the best, and she didn’t want to disappoint her teachers. “My experience when I participated in this L’oreal competition, I was very excited because I had to do the best thing and it was a lot of fun, I was really happy to be invited to the competition,” Dhea recalls. As a gift for winning the competition, she received L’oreal products worth IDR 5 million.

The process of becoming a winner was long, starting from thinking about what theme she wanted to give to the competition and what techniques she wanted to do. Finally, she presented a long hair cutting with a Rose Gold balayage technique color. She applied all of her knowledge while studying at Rumah Cantik and ultimately paid off.
The road to success for Dhea continues and she is not about to give up. She aspires to become a psychologist for the welfare of her family. For her friends who are still studying, she says, “The important thing is to keep up the spirit. While there is a will there must be a way. Because the past is an experience, the future is a mystery and the present is a gift.”
Congratulations to Dhea and let’s wish her continued success in her endeavor!
Beside Dhea, there are success stories from alumni of Rumah Belajar who received the scholarship program from YCAB.
